Abyss of Mordrath (new raid) starter guide

The new raid has been out for a few days. Below you will find the things you will need to get and do before you can take a serious attempt at the raid. I’m not going to sugarcoat this post this time.

The raid dictates a few pre-reqs that you need. Remember to have fun, but do keep these things in mind. A raid is not for everyone, just as much as some don’t do festivals, dailies, roleplay or alts.

Non-material ones.

  • Have the time to attend and be attentive during the fights
  • Be prepared to spend time learning the new mobs and bosses (It’s a hazardous place)
  • Stricter in class roles and requirements then normal runs

Be prepared – global

  • Have consumables like hope tokens, battle/warding scrolls, fortifying foods
  • Repair your gear beforehand
  • Teamspeak installed (no microphone possible/listen only)

Raid specific – global

  • Raiding is different then a quick 30 min pelagrir. Its more about the group then the person.
  • Every character has to have 150+ Light of erendil (160 minimum suggested)
  • Have the entry discovered (either through travel or the Gimli quest from the reflecting pool)
  • Limited class slots available, cant use 12 hunters or 12 tanks. We’ll try to balance it, but sometimes it wont work

Raid specific – character

  • Hold your class to the highest standard that you can. Trait points, essences slotted, Legendary item maxed, replacing sub level 112 gear etc
  • Non-tank classes 65k+ morale, Tank classes 100k+ morale
  • Mitigations capped (a dead hunter does no dps)
  • Play a traitline that fits the role required for the raid. Sorry for a yellow hunter, dps minstrel or a dps beorning.
  • Raiding is a big group effort. The loot system allows relogs before looting or bind on account for other classes.

Kin specific raiding – Bearlees/squirle opinion
The kinmembers and activities we provide to them vary a lot. Raiding is just one of them. I’m going to leave the leading and organizing to more capable people. Bravery and Adye as officers and other members will lead the charge into the Abyss of Modrath. I’ll provide support, coordination and participate in the raid where i can. Activities in the near future may shift around to give everyone the best chance to enjoy each event they like to participate in, but respect each other choices. And if there is an issue bring it up with one of the officers.

Gearslots at level 115 advice and sources

Total general advice
There currently is no best gear set in the game. There are two scenarios. One where you need light in mordor landscape or (resource) instances and the rest of lotro. You will need light in the right areas. 10 light equals 10% extra incoming damage and 5% outgoing. So any other stats are invalid till you got enough light for your goal.

Light needed
Pocket item with 20 light + 8 * 10 light on others is 9 gear slot for the current cap (100 shadow). Pocket item, allegiance cloak, allegiance gauntlets and chapter 4 rings easiest to obtain and/or best.

Rest of lotro
No light so it’s all about stats. Essence slots vary alot depending on your role and class. All scaled pieces dont have essence slots, but wont help you in capping secondary stats like mitigations, outgoing healing or finesse. And not every essence is valued the same.

Essences
Example 1: Vitality vs morale (main vs secondary)
You will get more morale from 495 vitality 1980+ vs 1966
Example 2: Agility vs physical mastery (main vs secondary)
295 agility = 2360 PM (0,56 essence) + 295 critical rating (0,11 ) + 1485 evade/parry (0,25) If you needed all stats from agility it would equal 0,92 essences. So even if you would need all of them it’s better to get the specialty essences vs the main stats.

This will vary for every class and role. Morale essences are always worse then vitality, but agility is usually worse (by a lot) then getting other essences for a hunter

Armour pieces general advice

  • Doomfold/alliance
  • Scaled loot drops
    • Shadow armour (with light)
    • Rohan scaled (no light)
  • Mathom armour
  • Specifics slots can also drop from specific skirmishes, not confirmed yet. https://lotrotools.pw/en/lootlist/skirmish100.php

Level 115 purple armour with 1 essences slot are about equal as Level 112 teal with 2 essence slots in pure stats (based on empower/shadow essence main stats)

New event planner + starter guide

We’ve updated the website with a new event calendar. One where you can comment, sign up and just have a few more options. For the oldies it’s basically what we had on the old website, but updated and working.

You can access the specific events throught the Member page bottom left
Or get full access through this link Main page event planner

Get started

When you use one of the above links you have to be logged in. It’s the same account you use on the rest of the website.
The second step is to create atleast 1 character.  You can use this character to sign up for events or you can use specific characters like cap group or your tank/healer.

Using the calendar
Click on the event you’d like to attend
Sign up with the character, set a role and comment.

Faq
Why do i need to sign up?
You can just log in the game and play. But this way you know how many people will be there. Can let people know if you’re going to be late.

Combine all options
We’ve have several ways to find out what will happen tonight or let people know if you will attend, but each one is limited by something. You’re not ingame, the person doing the event isnt, don’t use facebook. This is one place that you can use everywhere you got internet.

Other questions?
Just let them know here, fb group or in person.

U20 Reputation / Crafting Tutorials…

Some may have figured it all out, but the new reputation and crafting combination is quite confusing. This is the first visual que i found that made sense to me. The most confusing part is that you need the same items for reputation (which you need to have access to the barter option) from which you barter with. This has been done before. But you never had so many different options to get them. Making it all a large bumble of confusion.

Discussion topic – http://exploremiddleearth.com/wordpress/forum/class-crafting-and-instance-guides/update-20-reputation-and-crafting-information/#p41056

Faq
Do i save the rep items or do i use them at first?
Both, depending on what level of reputation you need. Most people say save the 100 and 200 rep items. And use the 500.

How do i get it quickly?
Cheapest option, use your cooldowns.
Alternatively use lots of character with cooldowns or farm the rep in one of the Elite areas
Expensive, buy crafted items to barter. Really expensive atm.
Journal/crit item available from the store

How do i get access to those resource instances?
Step 1 get access to Lang Rhuven 6-man landscape quests
Step 2 Complete the set of 3 quests about 3-4 times
Step 3 Do follow up quests in Skoirnock area and Tower of teeth
Step 4 Get a Brittle lockpick set from flower barter guy
Step 5 Do solo or fellowship dailies instance

Visual aid (cook recipes explained)
In the area you will get all kind of materials and recipes. But replace the cook items with your craft etc. And it will start to make some sense.
All crafts have different materials, which use different named recipes with a cooldown (single use available as drops) which result in different named items. All these items barter for reputation items which you use for See Faq1

U19 Info, Unbound NI Essences & Flower Armour…

ni-flower-routesFlower route for new 4-slot armour
A little tidbit post. What routes do you use for your flower gathering in update 19? These are the way i run for my pieces on my hunter atm. On average I’m getting about 1 armour piece per 45-60 mins. With some extras throw in for the housing items.

What routes and flowers are you doing?
