Wisdom of the Valar is 10 Years Old!

Your kinship, Wisdom of the Valar, is 10 years old today!

It goes without saying that without the ambition and vision of those early founders, leaders and members WotV would have fallen by the wayside like so many other kinships. This kin however prided itself on being a place for friends, and an escape from the pressures and difficulties of real life (and raiding kins).

Simrien (Simon Cook), Iaurcair (Gary Lyons), Sixfoot (Lisa Smith), Brethanna, Buntaro, Taris – names that go right back to the dawn of the kin and still engage with us today because successor leaders such as Elvirado (Lauren Betteley) and Squirle (Victor Gijzen) have committed to their early vision of the kin whilst also building on it, bringing in alliances, social activities, rewards and increased engagement for all members. WotV is as strong now as it ever has been, and that is a wonderful achievement.

It’s important in this 10th year that we also remember those we have lost in both worlds – Anamareth (Anne), Phorlas (Ian) and Emeldriel (Angie). Wonderful officers and good friends to many. Their loss reminds us to take care of each other in this kin, and to always consider the human behind the keyboard.

I haven’t been nominated to write these words but as an active member for 6 years I feel joyous at our achievement. I’m sure everyone else does too. This is a great time to be playing LOTRO and I hope that all kinnies will engage with the celebrations underway:

– Kin 10th Anniversary Auctions are now LIVE with amazing bargains to be found on the Auction House!
– Kin 10th Anniversary Lottery draws Sunday 23rd July evening – have you got your ticket? For just 500 silver (sent to Lottovalar) you could win a chunk of the *5000 gold* (no typo) prize fund!

Thank you everyone, past, present and future, for 10 amazing years of Wisdom of the Valar!

The LOTRO Beacon – A Community Newsletter…

LOTRO has recently launched issue #1 of a new community-based newsletter, ‘The LOTRO Beacon’.

It’s very well done and for community players it’s long overdue – feedback from LOTRO on community activities is something that’s been required for some time.

As well being supportive of the community and promoting kins and events, issue #1 is special because Wisdom of the Valar get a good mention – and we didn’t even try!

Read ‘The LOTRO Beacon’ here – https://www.lotro.com/en/game/articles/lotro-beacon-issue-1-0 and make sure you give them your feedback and get involved!

An Outstanding Creep Night!

Let it be known – that was a fantastic Creep Night!

13 of us including allies from Everlasting Hope stormed the Ettenmoors! The fighting didn’t stop! Brand new Creep kinnies gained 4 levels in one evening, and despite the lag we battled on regardless!

Grimwood Lumber Camp, TA, Ost Ringdyr, TR – we fought everywhere, supporting two Creep Raids and, for me, getting just under 7000 Infamy!

Thanks to everyone who made it one of the best Creep Nights yet!
